Objects That Connect Us

Join us at The Washington House Museum, where stories come alive.
In celebration of October’s designation as “Family History Month”, we are
excited to offer an evening of dessert and sharing cherished family
objects. What can personal artifacts tell us about generations past,
present and future? Discover unforeseen stories hidden within seemingly
ordinary objects during this special event. Bring your personal keepsake
to share with fellow community members as you learn, listen and
explore history in an intimate, intergenerational setting. Who knows what
you might uncover?
Event is limited to 20 participants. Advanced registration is required. Deadline to register is October 13. All ages are welcome.
What You’ll Experience
- Gather around a communal table, enjoy dessert and reflect on family artifacts
- Use treasures as conversation pieces, unlocking otherwise untold narrative and memories
- Find surprising ties between grandparents, children and grandchildren
- Discover parallels between community members of diverse backgrounds
- Explore the humor and love of sharing cherished traditions with others
Know Before You Go
- Each attendee is asked to bring one object of personal value to discuss.
- These items will NOT be donated to The Washington House Museum – they will be used to support conversations among program participants.
- Ice cream and other dessert as well as coffee and tea will be provided.

The Wisconsin History Makers Tour will bring history directly to local communities in every region of the state through pop-up exhibits, object displays, public programs, outdoor installations, and other activities.
