SUMMARY:"We Like to Kick Up Our Heels" History Walk
DESCRIPTION:Explore the outdoor display and view large-scale reproductions of historical images.\n\n\n\nHere in Wisconsin\, communities come together across cultures with dance. The state has a long history of supporting the art form as a means of social and personal expression. You see it in our schools—UW Madison was the first college in the country to institute a dance program. You see it at annual festivals\, which range from polka contests to Hmong New Year celebrations. You see it in Tribal Nations and communities as they celebrate and honor their culture. Take a step (or two) along and explore this outdoor installation yourself. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNote: For hours\, admission\, and pricing\, please contact the hosting venue. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe Wisconsin History Makers Tour will bring history directly to local communities in every region of the state through pop-up exhibits\, object displays\, public programs\, outdoor installations\, and other activities.  \n\n\n\nThe History Makers Tour is presented by Culver’s and is made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services\, Grant Number: MA-253159-OMS-23.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOrganizer\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVenue

SUMMARY:"Thinking Big Is What We Do" History Walk
DESCRIPTION:Explore the outdoor display and view large-scale reproductions of tall-tale postcards.\n\n\n\nTall-tale postcards became popular at the start of the twentieth century. Modified images like the ones seen in this outdoor display were created when photographers took two prints: one of a background landscape\, and another close-up of an object that was cut out and superimposed onto the first. The results are playful pictures in which strawberries reach the size of boulders and fishermen grapple with whale-size catches. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNote: For hours\, admission\, and pricing\, please contact the hosting venue. The display will be located along the river walk that is part of the venue grounds. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe Wisconsin History Makers Tour will bring history directly to local communities in every region of the state through pop-up exhibits\, object displays\, public programs\, outdoor installations\, and other activities.  \n\n\n\nThe History Makers Tour is presented by Culver’s and is made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services\, Grant Number: MA-253159-OMS-23.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOrganizer\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVenue
